The APORA© is a proprietary strategic analysis framework to identify and meet specific Information Technology challenges pertaining to certain business drivers and strategic organizational objectives. This strategic study is a highly valuable aid to the decision making process. Based on a five-stage process, it serves to highlight major dimensions supporting sound business decisions concerning organization-wide Enterprise Content Management.

The APORA represents the cornerstone of our methodology to effectively gather preliminary information needed to define business requirements. The five stages of the APORA© are:

Actual - Description of the elements needed to understand current business requirements, information, applications and technology (three-tiered approach). Typically conducted through interviews, workshops, focus groups and surveys, this phase helps gather the information required to assess the current situation from the perspective of the analysis, concentrating on the business drivers and organizational objectives at the heart of the analysis.

Problem - Exploration and identification of problem areas, issues and opportunities that impact business from the standpoint of the current situation within business processes under investigation. Issues identified, and their impact on business, are usually grouped from interviewee perspective.Recommendations, presented in stage 4, provide the basis for the adoption of a strategy to counteract or manage the negative effects of these issues.

Objective - Strategic direction and objective, serving as the basis for defining, adapting or updating information architecture and, ultimately, the business processes involved. This stage is closely coupled with, and takes into account, the strategic orientations and objectives of the organization that are the driving force behind the principal business challenges being addressed.

Recommendation - Description of key elements required to support the objective and address the problems, issues and opportunities identified in preceding stages. The objective is expressed here in terms of its impact on the business, processes, information, applications, and technology. These elements are addressed individually with tangible recommendations aligned with the objective.

Action - Development of a strategic action plan for subsequent steps, including resource requirements, communication, change management, deployment strategies, schedule and costs.
